Creative Direction & Styling

There is a language of line, color, texture, composition and context that can be harnessed to express feelings and create experiences. I make it my task to create feelings that can be read visually...or better yet--tasted, touched, smelled, heard and felt.

Basically, I like to make things beautiful and interesting. I get to play in many fields, which keeps things lively! Fashion, interiors, built environments, installations, and flowers are all tools I use to translate clients' feelings into experiences of personal expression. My work often takes the shape of designing and implementing weddings, photo shoots for editorials, personal shopping, and creating both personal and public spaces. 

I see the role of Creative Director as keeper of the vision…responsible for setting the best possible course and eliciting the best work out of each team member involved in the project to serve the end goal. It is my job to bring everyone and everything together in an aesthetically pleasing, cohesive way.

Most of my styling work involves finding objects, combining them in ways that are interesting and appealing, and then arranging and tweaking them so that they look best for cameras, guests, and viewers alike.

The Process

I believe that events, as well as everyday life, should feel like a natural extension both of the space they inhabit and of the individuals that inspire them, as if the experience just bubbled up from their collective conscious. For this reason, your hopes and, in particular, the feelings that you wish to create naturally become the focus of my planning. To that end, in most cases, I sit down with you, listen, and ask lots of questions as we discuss and look through lots and lots of images together, spending time getting to know your loves, likes, dislikes, quirks, stories, as well as the existing space. From there, I usually develop an inspiration board that serves as a visual sketch guiding what is to come.

And the sky is the limit! I am a dreamer who works with some of the best in the industry. Together we can make anything possible. I value quality, simplicity, functionality, imagination, and the kind of balance that pulls everything together without feeling heavy-handed or contrived.
